This page explains what data DreamlandBuddy collects, why, how we use it, and your rights.
TL;DR
- The parent has the account. The child does not.
- We only collect what is needed to create personalized stories.
- We never sell your data. We do not show ads.
- You can delete your account and all your data at any time.
What we collect
From the parent (account holder)
- Email address (from Sign in with Apple or Sign in with Google)
- Authentication tokens from the identity provider
- Subscription status
- Device push token (only if you enable notifications)
About the child (entered by the parent)
- First name, age, and optional appearance details
- Optional reference photo
- Optional list of friend names
- Preferred story settings (world, mood, characters)
Generated by your use of the app
- Story text, cover images, and narration audio you create
- Play counts and listen history
We do not collect: precise location, contacts, browsing history, advertising identifiers, or any data the child types or speaks directly into the app.

We use a small number of reputable third-party processors to deliver the service. They are bound by data-processing agreements, process data only on our instructions, and do not use your data for advertising or model training. We do not share data with advertisers, data brokers, or marketers. We do not sell data.
AI story generation (OpenAI)
To generate a personalised story, we send the following to OpenAI, our AI partner:
- Name, age, and photo — used to write the story and generate the cover illustration.
- Story preferences, optional notes, friend names — used to shape the story.
- Generated story text and narrator voice — used to produce the narration audio.
No data is sold. OpenAI processes this data under their Data Processing Addendum and does not use it to train their general-purpose models. Before any of this data is sent for the first time, the app shows an explicit consent prompt naming OpenAI and the data above; you can withdraw consent by deleting your account.
Children's privacy
DreamlandBuddy is designed to be used by parents on behalf of their children. The child has no account, no login, no chat, no profile visible to anyone else, and no way to share content outside the family device. The parent maintains all controls.
We comply with applicable children's privacy laws including COPPA (United States, for children under 13) and GDPR-K (European Union, for children under 16). Because the parent — not the child — is the account holder, we collect data only with the parent's consent.
Your rights
Access
All data we hold about you — email us.
Correct
Any inaccurate data — edit it inside the app.
Delete
Your account and all data — Settings → Account → Delete Account, or email us.
Export
Your stories — email us; we will send a ZIP of all text, cover images, and audio within 7 days.
Withdraw consent
Any optional processing — e.g. push notifications.
Data deletion is permanent and takes effect within 7 days. Audit logs and billing records required by applicable law may be retained for up to 7 years in compliance with tax regulations.
