Bedtime Story About Fear of the Dark (Example)

This is a full, reassuring bedtime story preview. It’s designed to feel safe, predictable, and calm.

1) The Night Room

When the bedtime light clicked off, the room became quiet and dim. The pillow felt soft. The blanket felt warm. But the corners of the room looked a little bit bigger than before.

A small bunny named Nori lay in bed and listened. Not for monsters. Just… for sounds. The tiny tick of the clock. The gentle hush of the house. The far-away hum of the night.

Nori whispered, “I don’t like when it’s dark. My eyes can’t see everything.”

2) The Lamp Star

On the bedside table sat a little lamp shaped like a star. It was off, but it still looked friendly.

Nori reached out and touched it—just a tap. The lamp did not turn on. But it felt smooth and cool, like a steady pebble.

Nori took a slow breath and remembered something important: “Dark does not mean dangerous. Dark means resting.”

Still, Nori’s heart felt wiggly. So Nori did what brave bunnies do: asked for help.

3) The Friendly Shadow Test

Nori called softly, “Moon?”

A pale strip of moonlight slid across the floor, as if the moon had leaned closer to listen.

Nori sat up and pointed to a shadow on the wall. “That shadow looks strange.”

The moonlight seemed to say: “Let’s test it.”

Nori turned on the smallest night light—just for a moment. The shadow changed shape right away.

“Oh,” Nori said. “It’s just my chair.”

Nori turned the night light back off. The room returned to calm darkness, and the chair returned to its quiet place.

Nori smiled a tiny smile. The shadow was not a monster. It was a normal thing, resting in the dark.

4) The Cozy Routine

Nori made a small plan. Not a big plan. A cozy plan.

First: hug the blanket. Second: feel the pillow. Third: breathe like blowing warm soup.

Nori breathed in… and out… slow and gentle.

Then Nori picked three safe sounds:

“One: the clock. Two: the house. Three: my own breathing.”

Each sound said the same thing: “Everything is normal. Everything is safe.”

5) The Warm Ending

Nori looked at the star lamp again. “Thank you for staying here,” Nori whispered, even though it was off.

The room stayed dark, but now it felt smaller and softer. Like the room had wrapped itself in a blanket too.

Nori closed eyes and thought one last gentle thought:

“The dark is a quiet place for resting. I am safe. I can sleep now.”

And soon, Nori drifted into a calm dream where the moonlight was a friendly ribbon and every shadow was just a sleepy shape.
